Also, many articles regarding Freestyle Perforator Flap have been published in scholarly journals of plastic, reconstructive or aesthetic surgery worldwide. Concerning high percentages of esophageal cancer for patients with head and neck cancer, EDHG plastic surgery department, along with otolaryngology department applies upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to screen our patients who are diagnosed with head and neck cancer. This technique allows our team of early discovery of esophageal cancer. Such breakthrough examination has been listed in cancer practice guideline of Health Promotion Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare,Taiwan. In addition, EDHG Metabolic International (BMI) Surgery Center completed the world's first scarless transumbilical laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) in 2008. Unlike traditional laparoscopic surgery which requires multiport, BMI Surgery Center applied single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) to perform bariatric surgeries. This procedure only requires one port in the navel, which results in acceptable complications, the same recovery, comparative weight loss result, and better patient satisfaction related to scarring. Publication of SILS-LRYGB was honored as one of the top 10 excellent articles by American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) in 2010.
