Treatment introduction
The BIB weight reduction method involves the placement of an intragastric balloon in the stomach. This balloon helps to create a feeling of fullness in the patient, which reduces food intake to achieve weight loss. However, the patient must adhere to systematic and long-term dietary and lifestyle modifications to maintain weight loss results. According to our research, which was published in an international journal (Obes Surg. 2013; 23: 2068-74), we discovered that 6 months after undergoing this procedure patients can on average reduce 40.1% of excess weight. Moreover, there was an improvement of co-morbidities such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, liver function, and metabolic syndrome. What is noteworthy is that patients who followed their doctor and nutritionist's instructions had obvious weight loss results. Indications *Severely obese patients (body mass index [BMI, kg/m2] ≥37, or BMI ≥32 with obesity-related co-morbidities). Before receiving bariatric surgery, this therapy can be used as a bridge to lose weight and reduce the risk of surgery. *Severely obese patients who do not favour bariatric surgery. * Obese patients with serious health problems or failed to maintain weight loss after participating in strictly monitored weight loss program. Features BIB is a mildly invasive method for reducing weight by reducing food volume intake capacity to achieve weight loss. The efficacy was a 40.1% decline in redundant body weight. Moreover, added benefits include the lowering of blood pressure, blood sugar, lipid profile, and liver function.
