Treatment introduction
In 1978, the very first test-tube baby was born as a result of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Since then, this procedure has brought great joy to thousands of couples. Also known as "test-tube baby," IVF is a procedure in which eggs are surgically retrieved and fertilized in the laboratory. Once the fertilized eggs have grown successfully into embryos, they will be transferred to the patient's uterus. The Reproductive Medicine Center of E-Da Hospital has opened its door to patients and hopes to provide medical intervention to bring joy to couples experiencing difficulty in conceiving.
Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive and bear offspring after a period of sexual activity.
There are two types of infertility:
* Primary Infertility: a couple has never been pregnant before
* Secondary Infertility: a couple has been pregnant before, but is having trouble conceiving again.
Not all infertile couples need to consider IVF as a medical intervention. Yet, most of them are encouraged to consult with specialists first to look for natural methods to boost fertility.
