Treatment introduction
Endoscopic brain surgery is a technique that uses a tube with a lens and light source to look into the skull base and ventricle. The endoscope is connected to a monitor so that the surgery is performed while the surgeon looks at the screen. The actual target size is magnified more than 50 times.
The purpose is to target pathology or lesion while minimizing the trauma to the tissues through a small wound.
Endoscopic Brain Surgery has less brain retraction compared with conventional brain surgery. Better visualization and less retraction make surgery safer. In addition, as this type of surgery uses smaller incisions there is less tissue injury caused resulting in less pain and quicker recovery than traditional surgery.
