In light of lack of healthcare resources in Chiayi area, on August 13, 2000, Master Cheng Yen founded the first Tzu Chi hospital in western Taiwan.

Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital provides 971 beds and has more than 1,800 staffs. There are 200 Tzu Chi Volunteers around the hospital to assist patients, physicians, nurses, and other staffs in daily medical services.

We won the first Outstanding Fulfilment of WHO Health Promoting Hospital Standard Award in 2012. Besides treating the diseases of patients, we dedicated to provide health promotion programs for patients, staffs and environment. “A hospital without wall” means we not only provide high quality of health care services but also community medicine services and preventive medicine in the communities to improve the accessibility of health resources among the populations in countryside.

Moreover, by integrating charity and healthcare, we helped countless underprivileged population around the world by international aids. Going forward into the future, the guidance of Master Cheng Yen- “Kindness, Compassion, Joy and Unselfish Giving” and “Gratitude, Respect, and Love”- will continue to lead Dalin Tzu Chi Hospital for a better world.
