The Economist Intelligence Unit released the Quality of Death Index for Hospice Care in 80 countries in 2015, ranking UK the first in the world, the sixth in Taiwan and the highest in Asia.

Founded in February 1990, the MacKay Hospice was the first in Taiwan to provide palliative care for terminally-ill patients. The MacKay Hospice and Palliative Care Center was later built to function as a national and international base. It is hoped that by integrating education, clinical experience, and research. We offer cross-functional training to more palliative care professionals including physician, nurse, social worker, psychologist, pastor, volunteer, college and institute students...

We built the 6C Education Model on cross-functional team in 2015. Our center is accredited as an ESMO designated center of integrated oncology and palliative care in 2016 and 2018 and was the first certified medical center in Taiwan. 6C Education Model is including “Holistic Health Care”, “Family Care”, “Team Care”, “Whole Course Care”, “Community Care ”and “Psycho-oncology and Psychosomatic Care “.

There are more than 7 SCI peer-reviewed journal articles published.

From 2015 to October 2018, the Hospice trained 86 foreign professionals from Japan, Macao, Indonesia, Republic of Kiribati, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia.
