Overseas Global Health Practicum Program (OGHP)

Hospital Name Pingtung Christian Hospital

The hospital works with Luke International (LIN) in the area of global health developments since 2008 and the OGHP program was initiated in 2011. The OGHP program executive team has clinical, medical, public health, health informatics and global development specialists. The OGHP program has local (Taiwan) and international (Africa) trainings and requires at least 4 weeks field works in Africa.

Achievements

The OGHP program enrolled medical interns, public health graduate and undergraduate students from National Taiwan University and National Yangming University since 2011. International universities are also participating in the OGHP program through LIN’s partnership. OGHP program partner universities include Universities from Norway, USA, UK and Japan.

The OGHP program was selected as a case for Good Practice in Global Health Practicum and recommended by APRU

The program has trained 136 interns/students from local and international universities.

Applicant Qualification

  • At least three years health related undergraduate program training (medicine, public health, nursing, epidemiology, health informatics).
  • The program requires at least 4 weeks field training in Africa. The culture sensitivity and language ability are desirable.
