GuanShan, also known as GaoShanYan, is located in the southwest part of Hengchun Peninsula. It is composed of rising coral reefs and the height is 152 meters above sea level. Since it occupies a higher position, you can overlook LongLuan Lake on the east, the coast of HongChaiKeng on the west, beautiful Baishawan Beach on the south and DaPingDing on the north from here. The location of GaunShan is exceptionally rich in natural resources, which includes all the beautiful scenery around in eyes. Especially for sunset, it makes GaunShan listed in the eight nature wonders of southern Taiwan.Every clear sunset, there must be a stunning moment in FuanShan. The red sun that was high in sky starts to emit warm rays instead of resplendent rays. From the sea level far away, the sunset glow sprinkles and shines on the waves. This scene can easily calm our minds. Although the saying says that setting sun is always good but close to nightfall, as long as we can encounter the short but beautiful moment, the impressive movement will always remain. The scenery is like a poem, the poem is like a painting. Visiting GaunShan, you will know the sunset does deserve the reputation.Besides the beautiful sunset, you can visit FuDe Temple on the top by the way when coming to GuanShan. This temple is built against the mountain and with two hundred years history. There is a pavilion for resting aside the temple which is a perfect spot for sightseeing. In front of the temple, there is a natural stone cave which is named as Wisdom Cave. Since the entry of the cave is a nearly vertical dangerous place, there is no one who ever entered for adventure. Therefore, it is not a place for stay long.Following the small trail on the west side of FuDe Temple, you will see Flying Rock which is a stone covered by grass. They named after it since the ancient people didn’t know where this rock came from. Further, the rock looks very like a long-lived lucky turtle. It is also know as Lucky Spiritual Turtle.
