The Hongye Village in Wanrong Township is not famous for baseball, but hot spring. The biggest group of resident in Hongye Village is the Taroko Tribe. The origin ofHongye Hot Springs comes from a branch ofHongye Creek, which was first developed during Japanese Occupation. Today, the very unique Japanese style and the crystal clear water makes Hongye Hot Springs well likedThe temperature of the water is about 60 to 79℃. It is a low alkalinity, carbonated, hydrogen-sodium type of hot spring,colorless and odorless;good for both drinking and bathing. Hongye Hot Springs were already well known during Japanese Occupation. The Japanese set up a police sanatorium, which became the private-run Hongye Hot Springs Hotel after Japanese left Taiwan. The hotel façade has maintained a traditional Japanese style to this day;even the rooms are with Japanese tatami beds. The whole hotel brims with a strong nostalgic atmosphere.
