Zhongxing was the first street in Taiwan concentrated on selling Korean goods, with many ethnic Chinese from Korea moving to Taiwan in the 1970s due to political and economic pressures at home. Because of Yonghe's convenient transportation, many of these migrants decided to live there and sell Korean goods, gradually extending several hundred meters out on Zhongxing Street. Store signs have a similar theme and sell popular Korean products like silk duvets, ginseng, chili powder, and instant noodles. Each store also has a greeting poster at the door providing simple Korean phrases and their Chinese equivalent or transliteration.
