Mechita, a girl from Peru who suffered Elephant Leg Disease was referred to Taiwan for treatment by a fundraising through Miss Peru in 2012. The surgery was smooth and recovery went well. Members of Congress and locals from Peru were impressed with high recognition.

    "台灣的醫學研究、經常有領先全球的突破。像是我們知道、想要做腎臟移植、­必須找到跟病人一樣血型的捐贈者、才能配對;也因為機率很低,所以很多病人都等不到換­腎。不過、台大醫院最近突破了配對障礙,只要在手術前、先為病人做免疫球蛋白的注射、­以及血漿的換置,就算血型等配對條件不符合、也可以進行器官移植。日前己有一位先生透­過這項新技術、把一顆腎臟捐給了他的妻子。 切下蛋糕,慶祝重生!夫妻兩人一人B型一人O型,組織抗原又不相合,受限於配對障礙,­即使林先生有意將一顆腎臟捐給妻子,也愛莫能助。好在台大醫療團隊為林太太設計了個人­化的治療計畫,林先生終於在去年成功將左腎捐給妻子。 以腎臟移植為例,國內每年都有6000名病人等待捐贈,但捐贈來源少,而且捐贈者的血­型和組織抗原等條件又要和受贈者相符,導致國內洗腎病人要等上30年,才等得到移植機­會。而台大推出了為病人量身設計的治療計畫,在手術前先為病人做免疫球蛋白的注射和血­漿的換置,因此即使血型等配對條件不符,也可以進行器官移植手術。 這項量身訂做的新技術,可以運用在任何活體器官移植上,造福不少病患。但手術費用不便­宜,健保也沒有給付,以林太

    "更多新聞在 ※ PNN公視新聞議題中心:http://pnn.pts.org.tw ※ 公視新聞網:http://news.pts.org.tw 台灣的醫療團隊救了一個香港小女生! 這個女嬰才十個月大因為先天肺臟有缺陷經常呼吸困難面臨呼吸衰竭的危機,從出生以來幾­乎天天都以醫院為家。而最近,她透過國際醫療中心的轉介跨海來台灣就醫治療,終於可以­擺脫呼吸器健康長大。 在大家祝福聲中,來自香港的小女童「茵茵」笑得好開心,因為幾天前她還必須靠呼吸器才­能呼吸,病況一度很危急,讓做媽媽的真的好擔心。 十個多月大的茵茵,出生時右肺發育不良,只能靠左肺呼吸,但偏偏左肺氣管又嚴重塌陷、­狹窄,導致呼吸困難、常常喘不過氣,如果不治療,可能會心臟、呼吸衰竭,腦部也會因為­缺氧造成發育遲緩,但香港沒有這方面的醫療技術,因此在國際醫療中心轉介下,這個月2­號茵茵特別搭乘醫療專機、跨海來台治療,經過一個禮拜、三次手術,在茵茵氣管內、放置­一個輔助支架,終於讓她可以自主呼吸。 醫師說,茵茵先天肺部發育不全,算是一種是罕見疾病,不過也提醒家長,家裡嬰幼兒如果­常常呼吸急促,有喘不過氣來的
