En Chu Kong hospital is a community hospital where stroke is one of the most common clinical disorders. Neurologists in our hospital can provide acute stroke treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our stroke team is major in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke.

Achievements

We manage more than 300 patients with acute ischemic stroke every year.

Six to 7 percent of them accepted rt-PA thrombolytic therapy. We also have an experienced neurologist to do IA thrombectomy.

Program Details

Learning Targets

1. preparation of ER staff and neurologists when a stroke code was started by EMT or triage

2. interpretation of multi-modality neuroimaging study, including plain head CT, CT angiography, CT perfusion, MRI, MRA, MR perfusion, to choose the way of treatment.

3. the procedure of IV rt-PA treatment or IA thrombectomy if patient is indicated

4. the neurocritical care patients for acute ischemic stroke in intensive care unit

5. how to take care of patients with acute ischemic stroke in general ward

Learning Skills

1. to make a correct interpretation of neuroimaging findings

2. to learn how to monitor cerebral hemodynamic condition in intensive care unit

3. to learn the procedure of IA thrombectomy
