Hsinchu State Hall was completed in 1926. The Hsinchu City Hall we see today is the result of many additions and reconstructions. Because of its historical and architectural value, this beautiful red brick building was declared a provincial-level historic site in 1998. Hsinchu State Hall is a two-story, U-shaped structure with a tiled roof. Its exterior blends Japanese and Western elements. The pillars on each side of the large front portico impart an air of magnificence, as do the two small towers above the entrance.
