Life is a dream. I got married in 1987. Since then I have had a very sweet family in Myanmar with 2 children..
But things always change. After first baby was born, I became fatter and fatter. And the legs seem to have abnormal swelling. I thought it was the normal physical change after having a baby. After my second baby, the swollen legs got worse without any pain, I could go about may daily life.
By the time when I felt uncomfortable, I started to seek doctors for help at Myanmar.
I started undergoing many kinds of examinations and taking medicines in vain. As time goes by, I started to get used to my swollen legs. At 2002, my legs had some changes. Some red and swollen lumps with itching appeared on the skin of my left leg. After visiting doctor, some lumps became blain and they disappeared finally after a while. In 2004, Myanmar had flood disaster. My legs swelled and pimples appeared after exposing to the water. I had fever afterward. Doctor took care of the skin inflammation, and underwent surgery to remove the pimples. But swelling problem still could not be solved. I got depressed after prolonged therapy.
On August 3, 2008, I decided to go to the nearby country, Thailand, to seek for medical help. I went to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok and started undergoing different kinds of examinations for months without reaching any definitive diagnosis. I wanted to give up at that moment.
When God closed one door, he opens another door for me. One day I read the newspapers, and found out that Wanfang Hospital has had great success in treating similar cases. My sister and brother started to make arrangement for me. We faced many difficulties in the meanwhile but finally we arrived Taiwan successfully. I started another journey just like dreaming!
Arranged by International Medical Center of Wanfang Hospital, I was admitted to hospital on September 30, 2008 and started to undergo many kinds of examinations immediately. When the reports came out, Dr. Hsu Wen-Haien told me that my swollen legs were caused by the pressure of arteriovenous fistula. And he would perform stent surgery to take care of my situation. I was very excited that I had a chance to be cured after the18-year suffering of this illness.
On October 11, 2008, I underwent an 8-hour surgery. After surgery, I was informed that the surgery was successful. And I found total five surgical scars at my shanks and right abdomen. And the scars are not short! While hospitalization, the wounds were painful. But I know it is worthy when I thought of the painful experiences in the past. I was encouraged by doctors, nurses, friends, family members and international medical center’s staff who took care of me everyday. I was allowed to leave 11 days after surgery. After that, I need to go back to hospital for close postoperative follow up. My legs are recovering gradually. I can get better only because Wan Fang hospital has such fantastic skillful medical crew.
I went back Myanmar in January 2009. My situation is good. Myanmar Overseas Chinese organization is very interested in my experience and very impressed with Wan Fang Hospital. I would like to thank all the people who helped me during this period and especially to Dr Hsu’s medical tem. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
