A 36 year-old female originally came from China was first diagnosed with the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disorder that occurs when body's immune system attacks its own tissues and organs. In her case, the inflammation had affected her hip joints, which had have her to deal with the pain and discomfort for many years.
Few years earlier, Patient came to E-Da Hospital for a further detailed examination and later osteonecrosis (bone death caused by inadequate blood supply) was found in hip joints. The attending physician, Dr. Tu, Superintendent of E-Da Hospital, suggested her the total hip replacement surgery. Concerning the short life span (15 years) of artificial joints which are used in China, Patient had decided to undergo such procedure in Taiwan.
Patient is now recovered well and has follow-up visits on regular basis. The pain interfered her daily living has improved tremendously.
