Wanshan Temple was built during Xianfeng Period of Qing Dynasty. In memory of the four thousand victims of Jinhu Tsunami in 1845, the residents set up a monument with an inscription: "Wan-Shan-Tong-Gui", meaning rest in peace on the blessing way.A shrine was also established for worships. The inundation by the sea due to pouring rains and the widening of West Coast Expressway caused it to be relocated east to a higher land.
