Taipower Nuclear Waste Storage Facility is located at the coastal area between the Dragon Head Rock and Elephant-nose Rock in Lanyu. Since it was established in 1982， it has been storing more than 90，000 barrels of waste created from radioisotopes by the Taipower Nuclear Power Plant， and various medical， industrial and academic organizations. The aborigines of Lanyu have organized a number of "Anti-nuclear waste， expel the evil spirit" protests. They strongly request that Taiwan Power Company relocate immediately. This conflict has been going on for over 10 years. Taiwan Power Company has shown friendly gesture by agreeing to open the plant for visits with professional guides， but advanced booking is required.
