The Banli Historic House once belonged to Yanxi, the 10th son of the first ruler of the Ming Kingdom, Wang Shenzhi. Yanxi's children moved to Banli Village between 1862 and 1874. The house was taken over by the armed forces during military control of Matsu (1949-1992). Since the military's withdrawal, the Matsu National ScenicArea Administration (Matsu NSA) has maintainedthe structure.Most of the house's building materials wereimported from the Chinese mainland. The housewas done in the exquisite Eastern Fujianesestyle. Banli Historic House is now slated forrenovation. When this is completed, the houseitself will be turned into a showroom for localculture complete with a gift shop.
