During the Japanese Colonial Period， the military tunnel built by the Japanese Army in the Chin Swee Cave of Linyuan District was one of the largest national defense projects in Taiwan. In the decades after the war， only the Longpan Cave， the tough coral reef area of the entire Chin Swee Cave， remains. Its chessboard-like underground tunnels are the best adventure when exploring this region through historical tours.
