The Dili villagers were originally the Bunun Tamazuan Tu Vaqlac that inhabited the central mountain range, but they were forced to relocate to Dili for centralized control during the Japanese occupation. As for the ancestral land Tu Vaqlac (meaning a land with flat riverbanks and abundant water resources), it was well preserved as a natural habitat without human pollution and became a paradise with rich ecological resources and cultural beauty. The relocated villagers never gave up their dream to return to their motherland; the Farmer's Association and Tamazuan Aboriginal Rebirth Association jointly developed a long-term plan to enhance the environmental education for the tribes and restore the ancient trails to prepare the site for the development of in-depth cultural and ecological tours. The Tamazuan Visitor Information Center has prepared a series of in-depth tribal tours, including a trip to the ancestral land Tu Vaqlac, eight-part polyphone performance and lessons on traditional songs and dances, to create jobs for the tribes and introduce the culture of the Bunun tribes to visitors.
