At the entrance to the village， there are a number of lifelike sculptures and they powerfully illustrate the values of the Bunun tribe – strength， beauty， diligence， and wisdom. The clay sculptures on the tribe wall further convey the hopelessness and sadness of when they were governed by a different regime.The Bunun tribe adopted the lunar calendar，which divides a year into 12 months based on changes of the moon， and the tight knot technique to record important events. The tribe later developed a wooden calendar technique， a hieroglyphic method， and symbols that can be seen from the wooden carving-like clay sculptures on the wall that illustrate the wisdom of the Bunun tribes.
