In the 13th year of Emperor Tongjhih's reign, the Fujian Land Admiral, Luo Da-chun, was instructed to open up the Suhua trail. Below a trail-building monument lying next to Zhen-an Temple on Nan-ao Road, skeletons of warriors were buried. The forceful inscription on the monument records in detail the history of how these warriors worked in danger and lived in environments of miasma and heavy rain to explore the trail with blood and sweat and even lives for future generations.
