Around 1600 meters in altitude， the Natural Giant Cypress Forest is sitting at the 12th kilometer on Chilan Forest Road in Datong Township of Yilan County. In the forest， 62 native red cypresses and Taiwan yellow false cypress ranging from four hundred to thousands of years old are seen. Most of them are in peculiar shapes. These cypresses are named after historical figures in whose times they were planted， such as Confucius， Yang Guifei， Bao Zheng (Justice Bao)， Wen Tianxiang and Su Dongpo. 3.1 kilometers in total length， the forest trail connects each giant cypress， allowing you to take a green shower in the nature. Three pavilions – Yet-sen， Zhi-ching and Chien-fong – are built up along the trail to provide a place to rest. Due to the daily limit to enter， please reserve and contact for a visit in advance.
