The Shuili Snake Kiln originated in 1927; its founder， the pottery master in Nantou， Lin Chiangsung perceived great opportunities in pottery， due to the fact that Shuili was a distribution center for timber， hence fuel was in abundance. Furthermore， the earth in Shuili is suitable for pottery， therefore he constructed the Snake Kiln， and it has produced countless pottery ware since its inception. The Shuili Snake Kiln is the oldest and the most representative wood-fired kiln in Taiwan. The length of the kiln stretches over 30m and uses wood as fuel. Primary Space and Facilities 1. Cultural Artifact Hall: Displays pottery tools and pottery wares used by our ancestors. 2.Pottery Class: The class is able to accommodate 500 students and there are 20 pottery wheels. 3. Multimedia Presentation Room: The rooms can accommodate up to 120 and 80 persons respectively; documentaries of the Snake Kiln are screened at sporadic intervals， introducing the historical background of the Snake Kiln and pottery production process.
