Lion Head Mountain is located in the boundary between Sanwan Township, Nanjhuang Township of Miaoli County and Emei Township of Hsinchu County, and it belongs to the offshoot of the Luchang Mountain. Its main peak is 492 meters high, and its chain of mountains is towering and verdant, creating wonderful scenery. It is called Lion Head Mountain because its shape is like a fierce lion. Lion Head Mountain and Fuguang Mountain are the both major holy lands of Buddhism, and Lion Head Mountain has also won one of twelve wonderful sceneries in Taiwan. Most of the temples in Lion Head Mountain are built in natural rock cavities.
