The Battle Museum is located to the right of Sihong Banyan Park and was built in 1988 on the 30th anniversary of the August 23 Artillery War. The white walls, red columns and green glazed tiles give it a grand appearance. Displayed outside the museum are fighter planes, armored vehicles and cannons used during the battle. The collection inside includes historical records on the battle, relics and rare photos. The museum is intended to commemorate the heroism of Kinmen's people and garrison during the August 23 Artillery War in 1958. The walls beside the main entrance are inscribed with the names of 587 soldiers and officers who fell in the line of duty during the battle.Opposite the Battle Museum is the Yu Ta-wei Memorial Hall. The exhibits include his personal items, photos as well as the awards that he received from other countries.
