The instance you exit from the State Highway 2 and turn into the Maoao Fishing Village， you would soon be surrounded by a laidback and tranquil atmosphere. Although it is not a top notch tourism spot， the Village has its own version of characters. There are such points of interest to see as an old Banyan tree with interlaced roots and an aged stone dwelling. But the most noticeable details would be the Liyan Shrine. The statue of Guanyin， Goddess of Mercy， which the Shrine worships is in the gesture of holding a fish basket instead of a holy water vase.
