Dong Shan Bi Xuan Temple was originally founded in the ruling period of Dao Guang in Qing dynasty. Due to a mutiny where soldiers burnt down the temple, a new temple was rebuilt here by 1967. Each lunar year on January 10th, local residents and believers make it a routine to hold a grand ceremony to greet Guan Yin bodhisattva touring around the residence. The ceremonial festival and the Yen Shui Beehive Firecrackers Festival are the two greatest festivals during lunar Chinese new year in Xi bei (northern part of the river) area.
