The Moral Monastery was built in Chinese Hunan Palace style on the hillside and is devoted to Laotzu, the founder of Taoism. Over looking Jinshih Lake, it is the only Taoist temple in Taiwan with a Taoist library. The main hall is where Sanching Taozhu is worshipped. The monastery is an impressive building which over looks Jinshih Lake and backs onto the picturesque Shih Mountain. The monastery's carvings and colorful decorations are a truly a beautiful sight. The depression beneath the rear hall of the Moral Monastery is where the "Shihho" (Lion's Throat) is supposedly located. Feng Shui experts consider the Shihho to be a like a treasure bowl, secured within the Moral Monastery, to be worshipped by believers. It is usually securely locked away to avoid being tampered with. Believers are confident the prosperity of Fudingjin depends upon the Shihho. The depression beneath the rear hall of the Moral Monastery is where the "Shihho" (Lion's Throat) is supposedly located.
