Fifty percent of Taiwan's fishing industry is based in Kaohsiung City. The fishing harbor is home to over 3，000 fishing vessels and 11 fishing harbors. This is one of Taiwan's most important fishing areas. The Cianjhen Fishing Harbor is located between the 2nd and 3rd Container Center， and is Taiwan's largest far-sea fishery center. It maintains the highest number of ships and total tonnage in Taiwan. There is a center where the catch of the day is auctioned off (around 4 AM ~ 5 AM every morning). Freezing and processing of fish， maintenance and upkeep of the ships all happen here. All kinds of associated businesses and facilities can be found near the dock. The new center is fully equipped and has hosted several fishing exhibitions. This harbor will soon exhibit a whole new look.
