The Zhongao Beach is located between the Lobster Cave and the Baisha New Port. It is the extensive white beach on the left of the Baishawei Tourist Wharf and behind the Baisha Elementary School. People go there to child out or enjoy some water and beach activities in summer. This is also where the triennial Yingwang Rite is held, including "water invocation" and "burning of Wangye's boat." From here, an evening birds-eye-view of the Linyuan Industry Park can be enjoyed.Zhongao is the only beach in Taiwan where visitors can watch green turtles find food or lay eggs. The green turtles are officially listed as endangered species of the island. Every year, from May to July, the turtles propagate. To protect the species, parts of the beach are listed as conservation zones by the Pingtung County Government. From May 1 to October 31 each year, from 8pm to 5am in the next day, the general public and tourists are forbidden from entering the beach and the intertidal zone, so as to avoid disturbing these animals. Violators will be punished.
