The Sky Ladder (ladder suspension bridge) is situated in Da'an Village， Zhushan Township of Nantou County; it is en route to the Tahchi Valley Scenic Area. Taiji Valley is nearly 100m deep; for the sake of transportation between the 2 sides， Nantou County Government decided to construct the ladder suspension bridge. Based on Japanese engineering technology， the ladder suspension bridge was the first of its kind in Taiwan and the second in the world. The structure bridges the Tiziling River， with a total length of 136m and 208 steps; the height difference between the 2 sides is a staggering 20m! Underneath the bridge is the famous Taiji Valley; a mountain catastrophe 2 decades ago sealed off the bridge until recently. By standing on the bridge， one will be surrounded by steep cliffs and rampant waterfalls， no wonder it has the nickname "Taroko of west Taiwan".
