The Gang Nan Seaside Scenic Spot lies on at the northwest of Hsinchu City. It was originally a recreational beach; however， nowadays swimming is prohibited because of contamination. Therefore， within its dike， officials had planned a wide-open scenic spot with beautiful views and various recreational facilities. This has become a new attraction along the west coastline of Hsinchu. 　 In the year 1993， the Tourism Bureau contracted a consulting firm to design Gang Nan Seaside Scenic Spot. The Spot has become one of the attractions along the recreational places of the west seashore. The municipal government then followed its plan of cleaning the rivers and building walking paths， pavilions and a playground for children. After the massive amount of reconstructions， the originally deserted place has become a new lively scenic spot attracting people to relax and have fun during their holidays. Today， this is one of the main rest stops for the recreational system on the west seashore highway.
