Fen Qi Lake Scenic Area

Fenchi Lake is located in Zhong-He Village, Zhu-Chi Township, Chiayi County. Because the west, east and north parts of it are encircled by mountains, which make the shape of the land look like a dustpan, so in old times it was named Bengji Lake (which means a swale like a dustpan). The named was changed to Fenchi Lake afterward, though, due to the inelegance of the previous name. Because of its magnificent beauty of nature, Fen-Chi-Hu has been gradually developed as a scenic spot. Located in a traffic artery, it is the position which the Ali Mt. Forest Railroad passes through. It also serves as a intersection of Ali Mt. Road, Da-Hwa Road and County Road No.169. Recently, Fenchi Lake has turned out to be a new potential tourist attraction in Ali Mountain area.
