Originally, a temple here was enshrined with the Wenchang Dijun (One of the Five Wenchang). Unfortunately, in 1862 the JiaNan Earthquake shook down the temple. On the same spot, later, local people rebuilt a temple called Ching Ang with a larger scale to enshrine Mazu (the Sea goddess). It was started by obtaining the incense ashes from and inviting the Heavenly Holy Mother of the Tainan Grand Matzu Temple.
