Shen Kuang-Wen studied a number of books since he was young. In the Ming Zheng era, when Zheng Jing inherited the throne, Shen Kuang-Wen wrote an article to satirize the regime, bringing him the danger of being killed. He fled and became a monk in Luohanmen (Neimen nowadays). Afterwards, he devoted the rest of his life to enlightening inhabitants with Confucianism and treating illness for people in Shanhua District in Tainan until he died. To memorize Shen Kuang-Wen, people gave him a shrine in Qingan temple with five Wenchang Dijun and built a monument for him.
