Dun Yuan Sheng Temple was originally the Dun Yuan Society. It is located in the Gui Ren District and is also named the Confucian Temple. The Dun Yuan Society was originally a National Studies Society, organized by the intellectuals of Xin Feng District, Tainan. These intellectuals solicited funds to build a temple and a Bronze statue of Confucius. Other than Confucius, saints like Wenchang Dijun (the Saintly Emperor Wenchang) are also enshrined in the temple. The appearance today was finalized in 1998. The origin of the temple was the private Confucian temple during the Japanese Occupation Era. In the early times, the anterior part of the temple was a Literary Work Preservation Society, while the side of the Main Hall was a Literary Work Preservation Pavilion.
