According to legend, Renshow Temple was built in the Ming Zheng era. The temple deity, the emperor Bao-shen, was brought from Tongan in Fujian by the officer of Cheng Cheng-kung, Wu Jiu-shan 300 years ago. The emperor Bao-shen was originally enshrined in Wu's house. Local people built a temple for the emperor Bao-shen due to its efficacy. The temple was enlarged over the years and became how it looks like nowadays.
