Yanshui was originally known as Yuegang or Yuejin. The most renowned festivity here is the Lantern Festival fireworks. Yanshui's Old Street is also very popular. During the Qing Dynasty, Yanshui was an important sugarcane exportation harbor in Taiwan; the thriving harbor was once the fourth largest in the country. Currently, the Old Street and the fireworks are the most popular attractions in Yanshui.
