Jibeishua means "House of Cotton Trees" in Pingpu language; It is said that in old times, cotton trees was literally everywhere here. Pingpu People in Jibeishua was relocated from Xiaolongshe in Jiali District. Night Ritual of Pinpu in Jibeishua has been well kept. Every year on the night of September 4th based on the rural calendar, the Pinpu people gather to perform the ceremony at "Dagongxie" with areca catchu seeds, agrimonies, and rice wines in honor of "Alimu". The Pingpu girls would also sing "Qianqu"; the crispy sounds of voices summon ancestors, moving people to tears. The night ritual lasts until the dawn of September 5th and there is going to be another ceremony, "Xiaohaiji" remembering the Pingpu ancestors came all the way to settle down in Jibeishua.
