Taiwan is surrounded by the ocean， which as a result，becomes closely involved in peoples'lives. In consideration，the Yang Ming Group conceived a business strategy with a vision about the oceanic culture， and established the Yang Ming Group Culture Foundation， devoted to actively promoting the vision to encourage people in Taiwan to appreciate the value of oceanic culture.In the early stages， Yang Ming established a culture hall in Keelung and another in Kaohsiung. In the northern region， a historic building built in 1915 was redesigned and arranged， and opened for operation on December 28， 2004 with the name "Yang Ming Oceanic Cultures & Art Museum." As the Museum celebrated its 3rd anniversary， YM Group established "YM Museum of Marine Exploration， Kaohsiung" in the Cijin fishing port. We planned to present oceanic culture and art， hoping people may gain a deeper understanding of the richness of oceanic culture and its inner significance.
