During the years when blackfoot disease (gangrene) prevailed, Beimenyu Church was the center of medical treatment for blackfoot disease, and Dr. Jing-He Wang has dedicated his life to serving the patients, both were providers of mental and spiritual support to the patients. The building behind the church dubbed “Small White House in Beimen” has witnessed this history. Yonglong Trench in the nearby vicinity was the principal fairway to transport salt when Taiwan was still under Japanese rule. The trench which was a bustling and flourishing ferry in early years is now set the pace for economic development for fishermen to make a living, and tourists can stand on the bridge watching the scene of boat dwellers to feel the elegance of Beimen in the past.
