Built in 1952, the house is a typical single-story tile roof house. It used to be the cafeteria for staff in Taiwan Salt Corporation, providing them with life necessities and recreation. In 2001, Taiwan Salt Corporation stopped making salts in its factory in Beimen. So later on in June 2003, Yayin Lin, who studied architecture abroad in French, was invited to renovate this old building and help redefine its meaning in a new era. The exterior of Qianlaiye was made of tile remains, shells, and oyster shells. The store logo shaped in Jinyuanbao (gold ingot) hung in front of the house symbolizes good business and great fortune.
