Chen Jhen (courtesy name Yinchia) was born in what is today Yangyao, Jinsha Township. His second eldest son passed the provincial magistrate examination in 1526 and his imperial appointments included supervisor to the Board of Punishment and advisor to the Sichuan Administration. Due to his son's high rank, Chen Jhen was also posthumously granted an official position from the Board of Punishment and an Honorific Arch approved for his hometown. Though of simple and rough construction, this Honorific Arch is the most well preserved Ming Dynasty arch in the Taiwan-Fujian region.
