Chen Zhen, whose courtesy name was Ying-jia, was a native of Yangzhai in Jinsha Town. His second son, Chen Jian, was qualified as a third-degree candidate for imperial service through the national examination in the fifth year during the Jia-qing reign. Chen Jian was first appointed as department director of Justice Ministry and later assumed the post of vice minister of Szechwan.Chen Zhen was reputed and respected as his father. After his death, the imperial court bestowed him with the titles of department director and councilor of Justice Ministry and had an arch erected at his hometown in honor of his contribution. Rough and simple in appearance, the arch has been the best-preserved Ming arch in the Taiwan-Fujian area.
