It commenced operation in October, 1953 until the city hall moved to the new administration building in July, 2005. The same site is borrowed by County Department of Cultural Affairs without rent for 5 years. Under the financial subsidy of the Council for Cultural Affairs, it was renovated to an art museum. At the beginning of this year, the public office got it back to manage because of the expiry of date. The county government tore down some of the facilities and all of the Lighting in the museum. The museum now is doing Interior decoration. It is expected that it’ll be eye-opening for the city residents. The PingTung art museum presents the early days characteristics of modern architecture. The facade lines of elongated windows stand in rows. Addition of a canopy to emphasize its role only at the entrance. In the interior, besides the tall colonnades, there is no extra compartment, coupled with the light that pours through the window, making the whole space appear a better sense of opening. At the present, it is empty in the museum. At a glance, you can see the zenith architecture set up by the chinese firs, along with the circle or square lattices and the Leaf-shaped tops of the cylinder in western-style. The magical feast of light embellishs the museum, making it more unique.
