Not far from the ferry terminal in Little Kinmen, at the roundabout of Jiujing and Baqing Rds stands a special tower. The 7 soldiers at the top never came to Kinmen…except as statues here.If you've been to the Great Wall near Beijing, and this tower reminds you of it, there's good reason. It was modeled after a Great Wall tower because the story of the 7 soldiers took place there in 1933.The 7 soldiers were in the Nationalist Army, and they died on the Great Wall. But valiantly. For 5 days, they held back thousands of Japanese attackers.The motivational slogans on the walls surrounding the tower read: "Fight Independently", "Persevere", "Survive Death", etc.
