Huatan Mid-Village Li House Main Hall

Built by the son of the third wife of his ancestor Li Shang-Bo, the house is a sanhe yuan. The wooden structure and color painting at the main hall of Li House mostly remains its original state, which is of artistic value. The main hall worships gods and ancestors where the Li family worships their ancestors. There are three rooms in the main hall and its main gate has 6 doors that can be opened for the convenience of entering while worshipping. The main hall adopts chuandou style structure and the bagua-shaped windows at the side rooms can repel the evil and attract the auspiciousness. The paintings on “Baxian”, “Weishui pinxian”and “Xungeng lishan” at the door top and above the bagua windows are seriously damaged due to their long history. During the 921 earthquake in 1999, the Li House was badly damaged. Its doors and walls collapsed and roof and its bricks moved and broke. It was again hit by a typhoon in 2001 and only the main hall is still complete. The main hall of Li House was officially listed as a historical building on April 10, 2002. The guarding dragon on the side was rebuilt with reinforced concrete by copying the original architecture.
