This classic brick architecture was originally built during the Japanese Colonial Period in the early 20th century for the reorganization of local administration. At that time, the building housed dual functions of administration and policing. The two story building contained an administration office, fan shaped containing cells, and a grand ballroom. Dong Shih Admission Center is now the police station of Puzih, which is the only remaining government building of the highest level during Japanese colonization in Chiayi.
