TheRailroadParkinPu-ZiCity,ChiayiCountyisastripshapeparkplannedbytheChiayiCountyGovernmentandHuangChuen-Zhen,mayorofPu-ZiCity.Theparkspansfor1250mandcostsabout20milliondollars.SomepartsinsidetheparkwereoncegarbagedumpsduringtheJapaneseoccupyingperiod.Notuntil1911didtherailroadline,departingfromthesugarfactoryandcarryingsugarcanesandpassengerswithsmallsteamedtrains,starttobebuilt.Aftertheconstructionofthewholerailroadlinewasfinished,trainsalsohadtocarrycargo,haulsoffish,agriculturalproduceoriginatingfromChia-Nanplain,etc.,intotheChiayicitydowntown.ThisrailroadlineplayedanimportantroleduringtheeconomyriseofTaiwan.Inthe1960s,therailroadlinewascurtailed,andtheterminalstationchangedtoPu-ZiCity.Fromthen,thesectionfromPu-ZistationtoGang-QianRd.wasonlyfordeliverysugarcanes.UntilMarch1993,theoperationofthetrainswasceasedandthesugarfactorywasalsoremoved.Theremovedrailroadlostnotonlyitstracksandtiesbutalsoitsvaluehence,itwasabandonedandusedbyresidentsthereasanareatogrowvegetablesorplacetrash,whichmadetheenvironmentalconditionthereextremelydirty.UntiltheChiayiCountylaunchedtheremediationproject,theareawastransformedintothebeautifulrailroadparkwhicheveryoneseesnow.Thegovernmenthasmadeplacesalongtherailroadparkmoreeco-friendly.Besidesplantingroadsidetreeswhichstretchformorethan1km,theyalsoaddsomepublicfacilities,suchaspavingwalkingpaths,plantinggrasses,placingchairsandsettingupstreetlight.TheconstructionwasfinishedinSeptember2004.Afteritwasbeautified,therailroadparknowservesasthetouristspotwherePu-Ziresidentscanrecallthememoryofchasingtrainstograbsomesugarcanesandrelaxthemselves.
